Our onboarding process

Here is what to expect, from first contact to your first piece of work.

1

Get in touch

Call us on 0333 880 8400, book an appointment online or request a call back. You can also meet one of our Client Care Officers in Sutton, Croydon, Solihull, Stoke on Trent, Doncaster or Bury.

2

Free initial consultation

We meet, in person or online, to understand you, your business or family, and what you need from an accountant and tax adviser. There is no charge and no obligation.

3

Tailored proposal and fees

We set out the services we recommend with a clear fee breakdown, so you only pay for what you actually need. Fees are agreed with you before any work begins.

4

Identity and anti-money laundering checks

As a firm regulated by the ICAEW, we are required by the Money Laundering Regulations to verify the identity of every new client. We use secure electronic verification and may ask for photo ID and proof of address. For companies and trusts, we also confirm the beneficial owners.

5

Professional clearance

If you are moving from another accountant, we contact them for professional clearance and arrange the handover of the information we need. You do not need to have the awkward conversation; we handle it professionally.

6

Engagement letter and authorities

We send you our letter of engagement, which sets out the agreed scope of work, responsibilities and fees. We also put in place the authorities that allow us to act for you with HMRC and Companies House.

7

Welcome and onboarding

Once everything is signed, we collect your records, set up any cloud accounting software, and plan your key filing and payment deadlines. You will also receive our monthly Tax Digest.

Frequently asked questions

Is the first meeting really free?

Yes. The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation. It gives us both the chance to decide whether we are the right fit.

Why do you need to check my identity?

UK anti-money laundering law requires all accountancy firms to verify the identity of new clients before acting for them. Your information is held securely and used only for this purpose.

Will you contact my current accountant?

Yes, with your permission. Professional clearance is a standard step that makes sure the handover is smooth and nothing is missed.

How long does it take to get started?

It mainly depends on how quickly we receive your ID and professional clearance. We will keep you updated, and if a deadline is close we will tell you how we will prioritise it.

Can we meet online?

Yes. We can meet in person at one of our locations or by video call, whichever you prefer.
