Charities operate under close scrutiny from regulators, funders and the public. Trustees need accounts they can rely on, clear advice on the rules and support that understands the realities of running a charity on limited resources. We provide all three.

Annual accounts and trustees’ reports

We prepare accounts for charitable companies, charitable incorporated organisations and unincorporated charities, on either the receipts and payments or the accruals basis as appropriate. For accruals accounts we apply the Charities SORP 2026, which applies to accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026 and introduces a new tiered approach to the trustees’ annual report. Read our guide to the key changes in Charities SORP 2026.

Independent examination and audit

Many charities need an independent examination rather than a full audit. The thresholds for charities in England and Wales increased from 1 October 2026, so some charities that were previously audited may now be able to move to an independent examination. We can confirm which applies to you and carry out the examination. Find out more about our charity audit and independent examination service.

Helping trustees and leaders

Sound financial planning and effective governance are vital to a charity’s reputation and success. We support trustees with:

Tax for charities

Charities benefit from valuable tax reliefs but must still meet their obligations. We help with Gift Aid claims and record keeping, VAT registration, reliefs and partial exemption, the use of a trading subsidiary for non-primary-purpose trading, and payroll and pension auto-enrolment for staff.

Schools and educational charities

Schools and other educational institutions with charitable status face particular challenges, including VAT changes affecting private school fees. We provide tailored support for educational charities and their trustees.
